Hi,
I am looking for ideas on places to visit solo from Yangon (1 - 3 days) in early April. Any suggestions? Preferred modes of transport are buses, trains, and boat. (My travels in March include Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake, Ngwesaung beach).

what's your interest? Personally, I love Golden Rock, you can do some research and make your own decision then

Thank you. I will check out Golden Rock. Is it easy to get to? I am staying with my daughter for a month and thought I would give her some space for a few days by venturing to some place nearby.

Golden Rock is really amazing. Personally I love watching the local people perform worship activity and inlay gold leaves on the Golden Rock in very solemn atmosphere, some paper flying in the air .....

Hi, on the thread of Golden rock, i got back from there yesterday (12/03/16) unfortunatly for me they have it all covered up with bamboo scafold and covered from view. Was so sad, as this was to be the highlight. They are currently re-gilding the rock as pilgrams can only reach the bottom of the rock, and not the top, so i gues it makes sense. Fortunatly for you, this will be removed in about 2 weeks, so your going to see it in all its splendor... Even only seeing a peek of it with the morning sun shining on, it will look amazing! Kinda jealous!!
However, there are lots of places to stay at the top (is like a town up there)but i got up early, caught the craziest truck ride ever (was scary, fun, awesome all at once, with the locals.) This was actually a highlight :0)
So do go, no real need to pay massive prices to stay at the top, just up early, get in a truck for the ride of your life, you'll still get that morning sun rise pic that escaped me..
And most important.. have fun!
