During my travels in Lao I stopped in Vang Vieng. After a very entertaining bus journey from Luang Prabang-I arrived in the small town of Vang Vieng, and booked into the Blue Elephant Crossing Hotel, and what an enjoyable experience!
The staff and management at the Blue Elephant Crossing Hotel are very efficient, attentive and importantly very friendly, and make your stay really special.
The hotel is in a great location, and offers the best views over looking the river and the stunning…

HI,
I was wondering if anyone knew of a quiet, budget (under US$10) place to stay in the hills around Luang Prabang? I don't need air-con, hot water, or western toilet - just electricity!
I've been having trouble sleeping in Luang Prabang (noisy guesthouse) and thought a few days in the countryside might be just the thing.
I agree with that last post about non-locals buying up land around Luang Prabang. I've just been here a few days and the transformation this town is undergoing is obvious…
Just a quick question. Can you get a visa at the airport in Pakse? We are flying there from Siem Riep.
Thanks all
I will be travelling in Laos in early January 2008. I would like to know where are the boarders located from Laos to South Vietnam or Laos to Cambodia.
Thank you
Hi,
I'm planning to travel around Laos and then go to Vietnam. I want to go to Hanoi because i am going to do volunteer work there. I will probably travel from Luang Prabang. Do you have any suggestions? Should I fly from Luang Prabang to Hanoi? How much will that cost? Or is it also possible to go by bus? And can I cross the border anywhere or are there only a certain places where you can cross? (I'm probably going to get my visa for Vietnam before hand.)
Thanks in advance!
KPL the "news" outlet for the Lao PDR lays the blame squarely on foreign businesses, of course it would have nothing to do with the people who run the town. I'll reprint in entirety as I sometimes have problems with links to KPL. Also bear in mind that the rendering of the UNECO representatives words seems off, perhaps due to the reporters English ability, perhaps due to editing to adapt the story for local consumption.

Can anyone confirm what my 'search' of branch came up with.
