Just thought Id post on the info I just received from the Gibbon Experience Office. We have a booking for after Christmas and it looks like a bulk email to all current bookings was sent out. It gives notification of increases from 100Euros to 132Euros!!for their peak season - now thats what I call an increase.
Due to this large increase they want deposits paid as I guess they know this percentage increase will cause no shows.

To us on the Aussie Dollar it means an increase from $159 to $210…

Which pier in Luang Prabang does the slow boat from Huay Xai drop off at?

Does anyone know the official dates of the That Luang Festival in Vientiane? I've seen 10/31 and 11/24 on the internet. Has anyone been and can you describe what it's like? I'm the type of traveler that prefers more authentic traveling to the tourist mobs....

We are visiting Laos early November and would like to visit various villages in Dong Natad, Dong Phu Vieng or Bolaven Plateau. As we only have a few days we can only chose 1 location!!

Ideally we would like to travel independently and stay overnight in the villages to experience some of the local culture and traditions.

If you've been there we'd love to hear about it - Where is best?!!!

Two months ago I've got a reservation for a flight from Vientiane to Siem Rep on the 28th of December.

I've just realised (nobody of Laos Airlines informed me....) that there was a schedule change....no plane on the 28th anymore!

I tried the online booking for the 29th of December but I get an error notification. In the past I’ve quite often booked flights on European carriers with my Visa…and never had a problem.

I tried to contact Laos Airlines but no reply so far…should I wait and “hope” that…

My entry to Vietnam runs out November 10th. I'm in Vientiane right now, I really want to head south to the 4,000 islands but I know they border cambodia and I think I'd like to do Vietnam first so I don't have to pay for another visa if I stay in Cambodia too long. My question is, is this going to be a huge hassle, once I'm in the 4,000 islands, to get to vietnam? I'd prefer to start in Hanoi but would be ok with simply being able to get from the 4,000 islands to Vietnam without taking a 60 hour…

Has anyone had leeches after visiting Kuangsi Waterfall outside of Luang Prabang, and if so, do you think they were in the water or were they the land type? What sort of natural protection can we use to keep them off and what can we do to get rid of them other than torture with a hot cigarette?

I am a student taking a gap year, and would like to visit SE Asia. I am a Kenyan passport holder.

I know I can get visa on arrival to Thailand, but have not found any information online about visa on arrival in Laos.

I plan to cross border at Friendship Bridge (Nongkhai-VTE).

Does anyone know if all nationalities can get a VoA in Laos - or is there restrictions for some?

Hello everyone

My girlfriend & I are heading to central & southern Laos over Christmas - early Jan. Im fairly confident Ive sorted a good itinery, thought I might as well chuck it up here for comments, everyone else seems too, some advice on possible day trips from places would be good as Im based in a couple of areas for a few days at a time.
