I'm thinking of my next travels for probably late June/early July this year. I've never been to Beijing (I've been to southern China and HK though about 7 years ago) so I think its about time I visited. I'd also like to revisit Luang Prabang and maybe a couple of other places in Laos. I've already been to Vientaine, LP, Muang Singh and I did a two day trek and visited some very interesting villages about 5 years ago.

Does anyone has any interesting suggestions for trips between B & LP? Note I'm…

Hello everyone!

I just thought that I'd post a new topic to start me off.

I've just joined as you can see. I am from the UK however now living and working in Laos. Prior to this I have done quite a lot of traveling around mainly within Thailand and Laos however have also spent a couple of months in Taiwan and several weeks in Burma (Myanmar)

I have done and do as much of my traveling via motorbike because I love the freedom that it gives! I like to get off the beaten track, end up in random…

Hi folks,

I'm off to Laos and Cambodia later this year and wondered if I anyone on here has been on the Luang Say cruise from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang?

I am torn between doing the 2 day option (with a night in Pakbeng) or doing the longer 3 day option (with the second night in Kamu Lodge) - does anyone have any experience of either trips? I wasn't sure if the 3 day trip would be too much mekong and whether we should just head to Luang Prabang on day two?

If I did get the shorter trip this…

Hi

I am travelling through Laos as part of a three month trip to south east asia.
At one point i will need to get from Vientiane to Pakse to catch a flight, and want to travel by boat along the Mekong.
However, the only things i can find on the internet are luxury style cruises which are way out of my price range.

I was wondering if there is maybe a boat you can take which you book locally?

Any advice would be really helpful!

Thanks

Hunter

Hi ,

Will be doing the trip from Chiang Mai down to Luang Prabang over the Easter weekend so assuming it will be a busier time than usual. Was wondering if anyone could advise on the following points?
1) Can we get from Chiang Mai across the border to Huay Xai in one day?
2) Lao visa: is it one or two passport photos?
2) Will we need to book hostels in either Huay Xai or Pakbeng: we're not on a tight budget but don't want to spend on this portion of the trip.

Thanks

Would any of you have the email address for Suan Keo guesthouse in L.P. ?
I have tried the usual sources but without luck - I'm beginning to think they don't have one.
Thank you.

Hi all,

I am going to Laos and would love to do a 7-10 day trekking across the pretty villages and beautiful landscapes.
I would like to have (ideally!) a decent amount of exercise per day (at least 4 hours walk, maybe some biking as well!), simple home stays, nice interaction with people, small group, etc..

I have been reading threads about it in forums and some packages on websites, but I'd rather have the opinion and advices of people who did something similar recently!

Thanks a lot!
