Vang Vieng - Worth a visit or not?

If you go, becareful of basil fawlty complex ridden alcoholic ranting British degenerate rouges that spend they days drinking meths in the gutters begging for money and whilst trying to talk to anybody that will give them time and can face their bad breath, poor body ouda and flatulences.

For me, it is the KSR of Laos, if I was 22, I would never leave, but in my 40's...I can only appreciate the natural surroundings...

OP, all being said on the pro and cons, I personally hated VV (the town) and when staying there, made a point of only going to town when I needed some internet. The good, wonderful, very nice side of VV is indeed the surroundings, the little bars that line the river (see the pic of Smile Bar of #7) and what they call 'the island', a stretch of land at the river and a 5minutes walk from 'downtown VV', ie. from the Happy Shakes-restaurants with far too many TV's...
If you're in doubt whether to go to VV, stay on 'the island', there are a couple very nice bungalow-places there, you can eat there and even hire bikes to explore the stunning surrounding scenery. My personal recomendation would be a place called 'Champa Lao', bungalows in a quiet garden setting, excellent food, lovely massages, a very good price - and even roomservice!

Well, since my post, seems the old brother of the 13year old (a 21year old) has been looking for me with a big weapon.

Now, I have made the "going to be done over by a young man with a long weapon and not in a good way joke before, so i wont again".

But Kam has been quiet concerned, the local establishment is currently locating the various parties.

Considering the history of the lad with the big knife who is the long standing BF of the removed Pedo, there is a possibility that for better or worse Nicholas could be finally receiving his big mouth compliances.

Its so Dallas here in VV some day's.

It just needs some families to be buying each over out over the price of Tractor Tub Tires and a few shoulder pads and we talking full mini series.
