Hi...

I made a booking several months back through Boots'n'all online booking agency for accommodation at Ban Sabai in Vang Vieng...I paid a deposit and had a confirmation through that all was fine...

I contacted Ban Sabai directly only to be told they have no reservation ,have no deposit and of course have no vacancy!

I am waiting for a response from Boots'n'all!

Can anyone please give suggestions of reasonable accommodation, preferably on the river, with air conditioning( my husband dies without it!!)...

Thank you

Judy

Isn't Elephant Crossing the place where all the big shot police from Thailand and Vientiane stayed when they came to discuss the involuntary repatriation of all those Hmong Refugees in those concentration camps in Thailand who are threatening to commit suicide rather than be sent back to Laos? Denounced by Amnesty International and Medecines Sans Frontiers or whatever? If so, and my memory isn't that bad, I think folks should steer way clear of that place. There should be some consequences for who you associate with. Booked the whole place out, no rooms available for a few days.

Thavisouk (?) bungalows.
Quite nice place. ~$20, great views of river. Quiet
Last bungalow has windows on two sides and even better view of river

We stayed at:

Mountain Riverview Guesthouse
Tel: 856-023 511428/Mobile: 856-020 5666513/856-020 5286337
$9 (discounted) double room. Big, brand new, balcony, fan.

I believe the rooms upstairs had AC. We loved this place. It was brand new, impeccably clean, super quiet, and had lovely views of the river from the balconies.

I'll second Drtraveller's recommendation of Thavisouk on the river.

Here's the last bungalow.

And here's the view.

It was US$12 for the a/c rooms (the ones in the first photo) a year ago.
