"I can tell you this: my experience hasn't improved as a result of the changes. "

Neither has mine. They delete any posts asking questions without any explanation. Would an explanation hurt? If TT moderators have so little respect for the people who give of their time and post here. I will no longer post advice on Lao and cancel my account.

Nobody who was familiar with TT before they emasculated it would say their experience here has improved. The stonewalling or refusal to explain missing posts(in my case 700)or refusal to explain why the PM function has not been restored is inexcusable. Those of us who live locally provide a great service to LP by providing timely, accurate information is addition to offering other listings not found in their guidebooks. All of this does not cost LP one cent. No, it's NOT:" on the mend" and I won't be patient.

People should stop making these off travel topic posts as the moderators have

requested.

Then it is a pity my question has not been answered by a moderator.
Scoodly, you may be right. Although why a post made by tools4fools on Jun 7, 2012 at 7:54 PM now shows as being posted on Jan 17, 2013 at 4:52 PM is still weird. The OP for that one was May 30 (Luang Prabang weather?)

There's no problem that can't be ignored if we really put our minds to it.

"Then it is a pity my question has not been answered by a moderator." Agreed, their refusal to address issues which have been brought up by long time posters is most disappointing. A quick look at those who participate shows that many of us who hav e posted no longer do so. It has been taken over by poorly traveled visitors with few posts to their credit. Expats who not only have travel knowledge, but cultural awareness are fleeing. As I said else we perform a valuable editing function to the LP guidebooks which are out of date at publishing time at no cost to LP. Supercilious posters like BacHien will take over and uninformed travelers will suffer, not expats like myself who lead a full and meaningful life in a foreign country without TT So long TT; it was fun while it lasted.

Yes, yes, a real pity there madame first officer. However, the situation requires some of your
best intuitive courageousness. The minutia of wrong time stamps presently must give way
to the frying of larger fish such as restoring missing branches and thousands of posts therein.
Take heed of the old soldiers among us, for example mr grilled pork with noodles and dipping
sauce. He's taken a hit to his sigline, but like the troop he is, he's dug in and moved on to
applying his p-38 and that almost invisible wrist rocking motion to a 1943 vintage can of ham
and lima beans to which he'll soon apply a liberal dousing of Tabasco sauce from the little
bottle he carries everywhere in the front pocket of his flack vest. When the smoke finally clears
grilled pork's unshaven mug will pop up and happily ask "when's chow time?". And as far as
the rats who threaten jumping ship, I say let 'em jump, for they have Rana-way before. To be
honest what puzzles me most about this thread is why it's remained up. Perhaps it's because
I've said what the mods wish they could say but cannot, or maybe they enjoy a little comedic
relief about now. Who knows?
