Hi,
Would it be possible to do plain of jars in a day without an overnight stop in Phonsavan (we are very short on time)? e.g. very early morning bus from Vang Viang to Phonsavan, couple of hours that afternoon at plain of jars and then evening/overnight bus to Luang Prabang?
Or is this just crazy talk......

Just stop by the museum in Vientiane, if you are just going to look at jars, there are jars there.
the bus takes all day to Ponsivon from Vang Vianne stop over night then next am plain of jars tour and night in Ponsivon and next am to Luam Phrabang takes all day again so total 3 days, I think it's worth it

3 days...oh, dear...only 7 in total so looks like plain of jars is going to have to bite the bullet :-(
Thanks for the advice.

Day one get to Phonsavan. Sleep there.
Day two, go see the sites. Take 18.30 night bus to Luang Prabang.
Day three arrive in Laung Parabang very early morning.

Can anyone advise on flying?
I'm having 2 nights vientiane and 3 nights luang prabang in March and were twondering if we wuld be able to do plain of Jars in one day if we flew to phonsavan?(probably from Luang Prabang if they are flying from there then)
dakgrrl
I'd stick just overnight in Vientianne and if you are arriving by air just walk out of the airport and flag down the next bus heading North (airport side of rd ) to vang Vianne from Luam Phrabang they do a 2 day trip to plain of jars, the main three sites, staying overnight in ponsavon. Our OP has obviously been and done it by now and I've been back there since he posted
