Hey there!
I am planning on crossing the border to Laos tomorrow at the crossing near Dien Bien Phu (Vietnam). Today I discovered that it is really hard to get some US dollars in this town. So i was wondering if anybody knows if i can pay the visa in Vietnamese dong or if there is a oppurtunity to exchange a little bit of dong for dollars and kip (probably againts a terrible rate, but ah well...)

Thanks in advance!

Yep. They'll take it, at a crappy (75%?) rate....

Enough for a Beer Lao, anyway.

Paid indeed in dong which ended up paying a little extra (converted i paid about $41 instead of 35) you can also exchange money at the guy at the border. He would give 174.000 kip for 1.000.000 dong

I mean 174.000 kip for 500.000 dong
