Train station very close to border.

Tuk tuk to Shuttle bus stop before bridge, a few baht, maybe fifty. (tuk tuks always seem to take you to the shuttle bus, shuttles go between Lao and Thai checkpoints)

Shuttle bus ticket again very cheap, shuttle bus to Thai checkpoint, get on same or next shuttle bus to Lao checkpoint free.

After clearing Lao immigration/customs you have to hire transportation again, share tuk tuk fifty cents, bus less, private tuk tuk five dollars and up, private taxi more, no meters or fixed prices.

Bring dollars for visa and a photo.

Senign, it's a tour operator or guide. They hold peoples hands while putting them on the bus and checking into a hotel. It's probably a job like most other ways of making a living.

Somsai: What do you mean tuk tuk to the border? I say - make him walk !! Will do him some good after a long train ride !! Should make it in 20 minutes - cost: 000 kip/baht/$$

1) Tuk Tuk (40B) from train station to Friendship bridge
2) Shuttle Bus (15B) to cross the bridge
3) Public bus (4000 Kips) from Friendship bridge to Vientiane. Alternatively, share a cab with fellow travelers.

and how much is VISA from Friendship bridge ? will this be for 1 month?
