Hey, just trying to get all my visa info organized for a trip through Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. I've read several descriptions of the documents required for all three, but Laos seems to be more complicated. Can anybody tell me for certain whether i need a letter of approval from the Laos embassy if I am going to get my visa on arrival at the airport?

Also does anyone know is it possible to get the Cambodian visa in advance in Canada or China?

thanks

It's very easy now to get a Lao 30 day visa upon arrival.

no you do not need a letter of approval from the LPDR Embassy to apply for a 30 day tourist visa on arrival, in effect that would be obtaining a visa

All you need is your passport and two extra passport photos, ( and money) they have only ever needed one extra passport photo when I entered Lao but their regulations say to have two ready for them at the time of arrival. Visas on arrival are very easy, from what I have read Vietnam is much more complicated than Laos as far as visas go.

Visa on arrival in Lao are very easy (see posts above). Fill out 2 forms, photo and we Canadians have the special privilege of paying US$ 47.00 for a 30 day visa. That is because Canadians finance the removal of land mines and UXO in Laos that were supplied and dropped by other nations who get to pay lower vise fees. Go figure...

Canadians under the age of 35 also must carry a permission issued by their grand parents .... just kidding.
