I'm wanting to cycle the Luang Nam Tha to Huay Xai road in a couple of weeks time. Does anyone have any info on the road conditions please. Thanks for any help.

I just talked with a nice Danish couple who came from Namtha to Huay Sai by bus yesterday. They said it is almost 100% sealed and that the unfinished parts are near the Huay Sai end. Their bus trip took 4 hours (used to take 8-10). Sounds like a good cycling prospect although those hills will be a killer.

That would be a great road to cycle, the scenery is amazing. I hitchiked/walked most the way in December and had a great time. Definitely a journey to do sooner than later now its more accessible.
If you stay in Vien Phuka, be careful with your possessions. I had 250US stolen and a very unlucky guy had 1,000 euro stolen on his trek! Very uncharacteristic of Lao.
