Hey,
I'm looking at booking a flight from Udon Thani to Bangkok and there are 2 flight options at 5:40pm and 6:30pm.
If I leave Vang Vieng in the morning is it possible to make it Udon Thani airport in time for a 5:40pm flight? I guess I'd need to be at the airport at least 40 mins before the flight.
So, can I make it from Vang Vieng to Udon Thani airport by 5:00pm

Yes you get as I always do the 530am local bus arrives Vientianne around 10am last baguette breakfast you should then be able to get the direct bus to Udon Thani if not then non Kai and direct bus to udon Thani is only an hr away from there and taxi to airport

There are direct mini vans from the Lao side of customs, (they wait for you to be processed through the Thai side) all you have to do is get your self to the border by tuk tuk or local bus from Vientiane. They have the advantage of running all the time and dropping you at departures.

Don't try to take the big public bus from Vang Vieng and connect with the Intl. bus from Vte to Udon Thani, it will arrive in Udon at around 5 or 6 PM (very much delayed at the border). Better to take the first bus out of Vang Vieng and then charter a tuk tuk to the border from Vte - you should then make it easily.
