Any body know of a decent G.H. in Vientiane for around $10-12/- (US Dollars) per nite. Preferably near the Mekaong. Thanks for any info. J

Two good ones are Mali Namphu (slightly above your price range at USD 14 -16) or Phonepaseuth Guesthouse next door at about USD are both good and within spittibg distance of the Mekong.

The LP recommended Vayakorn GH is very nice, wood floors, big baths, and thick mattresses, great AC...$10

Its 2 blocks from main fountains and shops-musuems and cafes, and 2 blocks from Mekong.

Samsonthai is a minute walk from the Mekong. €10 a night Aircon 2 litres of free bottled water a day fridge sat T.V hot shower and nice staff any tuk tuk would know where it is

We stayed at Saysouli a week this year and a week last year; several different rooms, $12 / double en suite, nice staff, 200 feet from Mekong & several good restaurants. Bike rentals $1/day.
