Has anyone used Hostelworld (http://www.hostelworld.com) to book rooms in Luang Prabang? Any other guesthouse booking sites that folks would recommend? It seems like a lot of the places are booked during early December and I am concerned if I just show up I may not find a place. Should I be concerned?

There are a million places available, and you will have no problem finding decent accomodation. If you are particular about a specific gh or you need 4-star, then I might recommend booking ahead. The busiest places may be booked (those mentioned in LP, for example), but LP has never been "full." We were in LP last Xmas season and had no problems ever with accomodation options.

We use them and find them very good with a avenue of recourse should the GH fail the client.

Mr. Nicky:

Even though you have called me Yankee Doodle and said some pretty degrading things about us Americans, I am happy to say that I do appreciate your response to my posting and I am happy that, as of today, you are still alive considering someone is apparently "looking for you". Keep safe. Kevin, Olympia, Washington USA

Ta Kevin.

Is the person looking for me the same Irish man that keeps phoning the middle of the night making threats or a different one?

There seems a few. Normally, one would worry.

But as I publish my address, tel number and working hours with a map to find me, I find there lack of commitment/incompetence is disappointing.

Thre's nothing quite like a lack of incompetence...

Not sure, actually Nick. I would at least show up, buy you a beer, and then kill you. Phone calling in the middle of the night is rude, and frankly chicken shit! I believe you must be dealing with amateurs! Keep safe.
