I am volunteering in Cambodia for a month in June this year. I have been advised by the volunteering agency to buy at least one, if not two pairs of hiking boot, as I gather we will be walking a ways each day and certainly going through water, jungle, etc. I have spoken to at least three saleperson's in different shops - Cotswolds, a UK army store and then Millets. Whilst the men at Cotswolds and the army store advised I go for non-waterproof boots, as this would enable the boots to dry out…
Could anyone give me some advice on the best way to combine these three? Having a hard time sorting out the information.
I will be starting out from Bangkok (and need to return to Bangkok) so could do this in any order and via any entry points.
Flying to Pakse seems a bit expensive. Is Ubon Ratchathani a good option? I can't cross into Cambodia to Preah Vihear from there right?
Is it better to come up from Phnom Pehn via Kratie?
Need some hardcore advice: Open to flying in and renting a car…
This crossing has a really bad reputation for immigration overcharging. Regulars advise to stick to the 30 dollars for tourist visa. Anyone done it recently? What tricks are they up to now? if I have 30 USD cash and a passport photo will they give me trouble? I know about all the fake quarantine, help filling out the form, etc, so I'm just worried about the immigration officials themselves,
Thanks
I'm doing this trip in a couple days, and I heard it's minivan only. I would hate to be in a minivan for 5 hours, are there any other options (besides taxi which is too expensive)? If minivan is the only option is there one company that's better than the other, or can I break the trip in two and overnight somewhere on the way?
Thanks a lot
Hi, can anyone recommend a clean place to stay? Anyone know how much the casinos charge for a room?
Anyone have any recommendations - I would really like to find one with a pool if possible. Thanks
Capitol Tours fired 40 of their drivers recently for trying to organize a union legal under Cambodian laws. They have been protesting for months and just now were badly beaten by a group of armed thug tuk tuk drivers supported or organized by Capitol, while police stood by doing nothing.
Please support worker rights and take a stand against lawlessness and corruption in Cambodia by joining the boycott of this company.
As a side note, their service is really mediocre anyway!
We need 18 people for a Aerial Yoga photo / video shoot Feb 23-25 in Siem Reap. We actually have 18 swings. We'll do another one next month as well. You don't need Aerial experience. We can offer you 3 free classes; Hatha, Vinyasa, Aerial and maybe an Acro jam. No money but the pics and videos will look great on your Yoga CV and it will be a great opportunity to network. We're also doing retreats every weekend. Please contact me though https://www.facebook.com/uluyoga/ or uluyoga@gmail.com and…

Hello, traveling to cambodia next week and just wanted to get some feedback if anybody has taken their children to S21 and killing fields in PP. My kids are 8 and 11 and trying to decide if they would be ok to see S21. I know it is such an important part of Cambodian history so I would like for them to see it, just don't know if it would be too graphic for their age. Any advice or experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
