Does anyone have current information, preferably experience crossing the border at Poipet? For anyone who doesn't happen to follow the news approx. 100,000 Cambodians have fled their jobs in Thailand. One expects the situation to be a mess, but are there any safety valves for tourists? Here are some links for those who don't know what I'm talking about.

To all Cambodia experts, April next year, I will be visiting Siem Reap for 6 days. Any advice apart from the Angkor Wat temple tours, what things or sights to do? I am not planning to do PP this time because of the limited time that I have. Will this be a mistake?

Hello all,

I am a fairly seasoned traveller but have never been to South East Asia and would love to get to know the region before moving from the UK to Argentina at the end of this year (tough gig!). My fiance and I are getting married in the UK in September and are hoping to plan a 3 week trip from around the 22 September 2014. We're thinking about SE Asia but don't really know where to start. I've read conflicting things about the weather in October- obviously the area is vast so it will…

Hi All,

at the beginning of next year we'd like to go to Asia to have white
sand beaches, not many tourists, no nightlife, good swimming and
snorkeling possibilities.
Would you suggest us Sihanoukville or better any of Thailand beaches
or maybe Phu Quoc in Vietnam?
Many thanks for the suggestions.

Cheers.

Hello.
I am in Cambodia and looking to get a multiple entry tourist visa for China. In Phnom Penh, I am getting quotes of $190 from travel agents. I know the visa costs $140. My questions...1. Has anyone gotten it cheaper thru travel agents or is this the cost? $50 extra a visa seems outrageous but I am hearing that it can be a real nightmare with all the paperwork at the embassy. 2. I am also hearing that if you go to the embassy and are not Cambodian, they will not give you a visa. The…

Hey all, I'm going on honeymoon in August to Thailand and Indonesia, and trying to squeeze in a one day trip to Angkor Wat. We arrive in Bangkok on the 3rd, and have a flight out of Siem Reap to Chang Mai on the 6th. I'd rather avoid flying to Siem Reap on the 4th. I wanted to know if we stayed the night at the border on the Thai said (arranyaprathet) and then got to the border when it opened on the 5th, if it was possible to see Angkor wat the same day? 8 years ago i did this journey, but…

Hi everyone,

I'm going to Siem Reap with my boyfriend this summer. I would like to have information about the visit of Angkor Vat. We plan to take the 3 days pass, but we don't have any idea of how to visit the different temples. it is recommended to take a guide? Or it's enough to take just a tuk-tuk ? What about the price of a guide or a tuk-tuk for 3 days ?
Does anyone have a nice route for 3 days?
Despite the temples, what is nice to do in Siem Reap? We are not looking for touristic…

When I was last in Phnom Penh and visited the Killing Fields, I did the audio tour and really loved some of the music, especially Memory of Darkness (or maybe it's called Memory From Darkness), an instrumental/strings piece composed by Him Sophy. (I looked it up online.) I'd really like to know how I might be able to listen to it again. I've googled it extensively and can't find it anywhere. I did find the entire audio book tour script online, which is how I found the song title, but I can't…

Hi,
Heading to Cambodia in July. I have everything booked except travel from Sihanoukville up to Siem Reap. We had thought just bus all the way and think we have to go back through the capital and hoped to do it all in one day? Is it worth stopping at Batanbang for one night? Anyone know journey time to Batanbang from Phom Phen?
I had discounted the boat option but I met a guy at an airport yesterday who said it was one of his favourite things about his trip 3 years ago. My book says it's an…
