I'd like to bring some American liquor as a gift to a friend while I visit for the first time, but I don't want to bring something which is already easy to get.

Does anyone know some reasonably priced liquor that everyone wants but nobody has?

Thank you!

seems like American whiskey would fit the bill perfectly--bourbon or rye
here are some fine American whiskeys that are also excellent values:
-Elijah Craig 12 Year Old Small Batch Bourbon, $30
-Knob Creek Small Batch 100 Proof Bourbon, $35
-Rittenhouse Bottled-in-Bond 100 Proof Rye, $27
-Bulleit Bourbon or Rye, $30
-Russell's Reserve 6 Year Old Rye or 10 Year Old Bourbon, $35
not sure if any of these are easily available in Cambodia? The Knob Creek and Bulleit are probably the most well known of the bunch and may be available there, perhaps someone on the ground can chime in on it. You really can't go wrong with any of these bottlings though.

Thanks. I'm pretty knowledgeable on whiskey in America (I'm in the industry) but I want to be sure that I'm not bringing a bottle of something which is already there on the shelves of Cambodian liquor stores.

I presume you're aware that whiskey is incredibly cheap in Cambodia?
Having said that it's usually a fairly narrow range of well known brands like Jim Beam. Some places stock single malt scotch whiskies like Laphroaig or Lagavulin.
I'm no expert on American whiskies but I doubt that any of the whiskies mentioned by the first poster are available in Cambodia.

Not much Bulleit or Knob here. I would love them as gifts. Thanks for the offer.

Had a quick look in the market, most of the alcohol is $14 per litre. And, most of the brands are the commonly known ones. The more esoteric names are unknown but may be a lot more expensive than buying from here.
