Hi,
Heading to Cambodia in July. I have everything booked except travel from Sihanoukville up to Siem Reap. We had thought just bus all the way and think we have to go back through the capital and hoped to do it all in one day? Is it worth stopping at Batanbang for one night? Anyone know journey time to Batanbang from Phom Phen?
I had discounted the boat option but I met a guy at an airport yesterday who said it was one of his favourite things about his trip 3 years ago. My book says it's an awful journey! Anyone done it recently? would you recommend it?
Apologies if I have spelled town names incorrectly, I do not have book to hand and I am tired. We have from Sunday to Monday to get there by the way so one night free still.
Thanks in advance, Michelle

PP to Battambang is about 6 hours, you can do SV - SR in one long day via PP, you simply get off for a while and change buses. You could bus to Battambang, Stay overnight then boat to SR the next day.

Agree with #1 - PP to Battambang was about 6 hours. I did the BTB to Siem Reap boat trip in August two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. There is a lot of life along the riverbank - small villages, people farming, animals, children waving and saying hello etc. and you pass through several floating villages along the way. It was a long day, at least 7-8 hrs, but overall it was worth it.
Good idea to use the same bus company for whole trip and book the whole trip in Sianoukeville and this will avoid the posibility of different garages in PP and no seats on bus to Battambang

Thank you. Is there a fast boat? Or one that goes from PP? The guy from the airport said he was on a Russian hydrafoil high speed boat that took about 4 hours. I can't find any info on google searches.
We will be leaving SV on Sunday morning and are booked in to SR Monday night so not much time to stop in Battambang. If we can do whole trip in a day we can stay another night in SR I think. At the minute I was just leaving it open as seems booking travel internally is easy enough once there. At least I hope it is as that's what we are doing!
