For those world travelers this is probably a stupid question, but I will ask anyway...

I am traveling to Cambodia and Laos for 17-days in November/December and would like to stay in touch with my wife/kids while I am gone. The cheapest way to do this is via skype. So here is the question:

Do the internet cafe's in Siem Reap provide (or rent for a small fee) headsets with microphones in order to use Skype to call home or should I bring my own? Do they even have Skype downloaded on the computers? Is the internet service quick enough to even use skype?

Thanks. Happy travels.

Yes. They do. Internet is everywhere. Fast. Reliable (exept for power-failures). And with Skype. And headsets.

Safe travels!

True. Some cafes have special booths where you can use Skype; the attendants will assist you--very friendly.

Thanks for the info. Just as I thought but wanted to make sure. Happy travels everyone.

Does anyone have specific info for locations of those internet places where Skype is available? I have a couple monk friends in a pagoda there that I'd like to skype with. They checked previously where they do internet near the palonka pagoda and it wasn't available.
Thanks much.

Tell them to try one of the many internet cafes on Sivantha Street or around Bar Street if that's not to sinful for them... Where's the Palonka Pagoda?
