For long time the best rates have been outside at the right of the Central Market at two places.
Recently I ventured through the entrance of the market, where there was a place on the left - now gone.
Walking right through the market on the main path, I changed money there at a two percent advantage compared to the outside money changers.

I have to say either they made a mistake or you did. The money changers work on such small margins there's nothing like a 2% spread between the buy & sell rate.

Related and perhaps helpful:
I once changed outside the market on the road coming up from the Samudera supermarket to the central market.
The place was about half way on the right side. What distinguished this changer was that he had covered the entire glass counter with bills. So no way to see what he is doing. He grabbed my USD 50; put it inside the counter and returned riel for USD 20. As I was alone - I was stuck.

So never use a changer who covers the glass. after this I checked changers carefully and he is/was the only one with this arrangement.

The place and others with the same arrangement are better be avoided. it is like a scam sign written all over the place.

I did not write that there was a 2%spread between buy and sell rate.
I wrote there was a 2% advantage.

If your 2% advantage is not the spread what is it.?

A
two percent advantage compared to the outside money changers.
Or, if that is not clear, it is 2% more that what is received at the outside changers.

#5 - It still doesn't make sense mate!
If the money changers inside the market are offering 2% more than those outside & everyones working on the usual 0.5 to 1% differential between the buy & sell rate then people could just buy riel in the market & then convert it back to dollars outside.
Small margins perhaps but keep at it all day & you would have a tidy profit. Perhaps some actual figures would clarify matters. Were they offering 4,000 outside & 4,080 inside for example?

Strewth, look if you don't believe me check it out for your self, or carry on paying more outside.
Outside, there are two money changers, probably keeping their change rates high between them.
Hidden away inside are other money changers, maybe only dealing with Cambodians..
What do you want, a video of the transaction!!
End of story, i am not justifying this any further to you. You're getting no figures.
Anyone else, I repeat, I got two percent better changing money inside the market than the two money changers outside the entrance to the market.

I do appreciate if you chose a user name like you have then there might be some pressure to come up with the goods.
Resorting to pure fiction is however bad form & as this thread shows, you will be caught out!
