Hello Travellers,

I am from India and new to travelling career and always aspired to travel the world.
Pardon me if my grammer is wrong in places.

I have few friends, travellers and among them one inspired me to start travelling from Cambodia and she like to help with the initial funding. I am just concerned since I don't want to end up just going to South Asia- Cambodia and coming back. Since I heard a lot about travellers who work along side the travel. Be it telecommute or odd jobs or something or the other, which is kind of fascinating but so unclear for me yet.

And since I am part of Asia trying to get a job in Cambodia or Asia itself I feel would be tough for Indians since they kind of look Asian but hard to get the job due to various cultural and odd reasons, which we all know it. Second dilemma is that, how can I earn enough so that I can plan my next destination tour. Since that is like you work in low economic countries and than if you want to plan to rich economic countries it's is too much asking for I think. Since cost will be too high.

Since for rich economic countries, if travellers save a marginal part of their income they can travel to most places with less thought of trying hard and more in enjoying the place, and it won't be a concern for them. But when you travel from low economically countries such as India, South Asia and various other Asian countries we must accept that it's hard, it's too much crowded place to get a job and cost of stay, food and travel too will be similar and out of that, saving for next trip and visa would be even tougher. And ironically getting visa too isn't so easy I feel as for getting visa for Westerners. Consider visa for Economic rich countries, the cost of it for Asians to get visa is so tricky and difficult.

Hence reaching to fellow travellers, kindly share your thoughts, ideas what I can do and how to go with my dream of travelling and even earn enough to travel around.

Regards,
Rohit

Google "Tropical MBA" and "location independent work" and similar phrases. You will find a lot of information about location independent work. Not easy, but possible (if you have the right kind of skills).

This really depends on who you are, and what is your profession, what are your skills. I know two Indians living in Cambodia, one is a very smart telecom guy, working for a big company, and probably making over 1000 USD+ per month. The other was working as a cook making 250 USD. You can also be an English teacher, but as an Indian you may face discrimination in this professional versus white people, though it could still be possible. As for travel, you can do a lot of regional travel for cheap, taking buses or cheap flights if you buy in advance. It's all possible, but will require a lot of effort of course.
Good luck!

You could always travel the world while staying in your home country. India has everything, from snow-capped mountains to arid desert, from lush jungle to tropical beaches. Many westerners would happily spend the rest of their lives on the subcontinent if only they could get the right visa/work permits etc. As an Indian national you have that side of things covered already.
