I just realised I'll be in Cambodia for Loy Kratong. What goes on? Any celebrations on Tonle Sap?
any tips on places to visit there, I've never been I've no LP and Travelfish doesn't seem to have much coverage.
thanks in advance.

The water festival will be from 23rd- 25th November. If you're in PP it will be worth getting a room on the riverside with a view of the river.

How ever you will find that in places like Battambang there is infact a festival at the Loy Kratong time when people make floation devices that they launch on the river...
I have only ever been in the North west of Cambodia at this time but even in villages a long way from rivers I have on several occasions seen village parades of what, in Thai, would be called Kratong....
This festival does exist in some form in Cambodia but... its name? Dont know. Only place that I know that you can see it in a relatively low key way is Battambang.

yeah right. That must be why all the hotels on the street I'm staying in Phnom Penh are booked solid for the festival and big party on the river tomorrow night, and the place I'm staying at now has increased its prices across the board by five dollars, in my case a hike of 40%, for each of the next three days.
