i have eaten numerous cambodian dishes here in the states with a cambodian family, but nothing really memorable. what are some dishes and restaurants that i must try when i get there? i'll be in siem reap.

hi!i am there now.i just had amok which contain fish.i don't what is in it exactly but it is darn good.

Amok is a kind of curry - I suspect it has coconut milk in it. You can have fish or chicken variations, often served on a banana leaf. I also love the fresh spring rolls (like the Vietnamese ones)

recently has come to an end but some interesting reading on cambodian food
Khmer Kitchen in SR was good 2 yaers ago
Red Pian o was visted by friend recently and not recpmended. Have you tomb raider cocktail then eat
elsewhere

Try to find a place with Khmer customers.
Restaurants with a mix of Western and Khmer food are in general disappointing.
My favourate two places:
- Kampot: a small no name restaurant at the north-eastern corner of the old bridge
- PP: a restaurant (didn't record the name) north of the Phnom Phen Hotel shortly before the large hospital.
