I'd stay closer to town, preferably by the river.
Have stayed at Casa Angkor Hotel, thought it was very nice. They have a website. A new big hotel right by the river is the Riviera. They might still have some exceptionally good opening promotional deals.
Also agree with Villa Siem Reap or Bopha Angkor Hotel.

Not being a big fan of the large airport rd hotels I'd still have to say that goldiana angor hotel is very worth the money (about 40 dollars). yes it has a lot of tour groups coming through but for the price its a cut above the rest for value/comfort etc and personally i think it deserves the 4 star rating. Also great breakfast included.
have stayed in a few in seam reape and would have to say its good value. Downside is you'll have to tuk tuk to town but its not far and cheap anyway.
