I found Jasmine lodge very friendly, safe for a single woman. I saw Mr Kunn stop his workers from monopolising the pool table but never get abusive or angry. He was helpful to me. Location is the biggest drawback. My tuk-tuk driver insisted that I had hired him for the whole day and returned to take me to Bar Street for dinner but I had to get another tuk-tuk home. I only walked from town once, because it was too hot. Food in the restaurant was good too. The bar/restaurant area was very friendly.

I have to say that I love the Shadow of Angkor.
I am a regular visitor to Siem Reap - I work with Angkor Hospital for Children which is a short walk away - Give Blood Please
The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, the location is one of the best, next to Psar Chaa (the old market) and on the Siem Reap River. It is quiet, but only 2 minutes walk to Bar Street (Pub Street) which is the night-life centre.
I noted the comments from last year on the subject of laundry. I am surprised at this as the staff would normally run around in circles to satisfy anyone with a problem.

one can make a difference

We (4 adults & 5 kids aged 14 - 17) stayed at Jasmine Lodge (Dec '08 - Jan '09) and found the staff to be very friendly and accomodating.

The rooms were clean, beds comfortable, breakfast was excellent (included) and meals in general were excellent. The atmosphere in the lounge / dining area was very relaxed and comfortable and the drinks cold! It was an easy walk 5-10minutes into the centre of town.

Most places expect you to use their travel services and when you don't, they get upset. At no time were we made to feel "obliged" to use any of their travel services however, we did use them on more than one occassion as their prices were the same as every where else.

Both Mr Kunn and Mr Huk were very good to deal with. On the whole, we highly recommend Jasmine Lodge and will be back!

Everything was hunky dory until I changed plans after staying the night and decided to move closer to 'Bar street'... the difference is business.
