Any suggestions on which of the above accommodation options you would recommend for Siem Reap in late December? We will be staying at the Pavillion in PP, so will have a bit of plush break afer Siem REap

I have read quite a few good things on TT regarding Jasmine Lodge...just wanted some feedback on the other two options....

Thanks in advance!

Hello - I stayed in Auberge Month in October 2006 and we had a lovely stay. Pretty, clean rooms, friendly service and a great little swimming pool. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Cannot comment myself on these places, but people in my Angkor-group stayed in the "Shadow of Angkor" and moved out after only one night. Don't remember the details, but they absolutely hated it. What I do remember is, that they (stupidly) forgot to pick up their laundry before they left. When we all stopped by for them to get it back only one day later, the guesthouse "could not find" it...

a postscript to my earlier post about auberge mont - the restaurant is not that great when i was there but did not bother me as there are so many other places to eat in siem reap anyway.

Thanks so much for the info, I would like to stay at Auberg Mont, but we have gone with Jasmine Lodge - they got back to me really quickly and I have read a few other reports on TT with good comments. Thanks for the heads up about Shadow of Angkor!!

All comment appreciated!!!

Of the three places mentioned, Auberge is the best in terms of facilities and decor, IMO. But...and somebody may want to correct me on this... I think Shadow of Angkor is getting a bum rap here. If I am not mistaken, the only significant problem that Shadow of Angkor has had is that last year there was construction going on next door that was rather noisy during the day, but that is finished I think. I am not sure what the complaint was that elziax mentions, but generally speaking, Shadow of Angkor gets pretty good reviews, they've got a great location (on the river next to the Old Market) and the restaurant, especially the Khmer food, is at least as good as the the other Khmer restaurants in the Old Market area like 'Amok' and 'Khmer Family Restaurant,' perhaps a bit better.

I moved from the Jasmine Lodge, it was located on the busy main road and was
far from the center where all the action is. I spent too much time in tuktuks. When I decided to move,
the manager/ owner? was quite abusive. His driver said he very often gets into
fights and is a very angry man.... just my prospective. Enjoy Siem Reap..... the pizza at the Golden
Temple restaurant is wonderful.... happy hour isn't too bad after a hot day cruising the temples.

Shame to hear anything bad about Jasmine Lodge. Although we didn't meet Mr.Kunn, he was very helpful. Tuktuk driver was at the airport, as promised. Jasmine Lodge staff were very friendly. Brilliant litle place just not far from there (toward town) called the Beer Tree. Very nice and cheap Khmer food. The Green House, further down, serves excellently presented (Khmer) food, with wonderful service. We didn't miss being away from the action at all. Plenty of places to eat and drink at your disposal.
