Hi - am going to be in Phnom Penh and want to make the trip to Kampong Cham - not too sure what's there but have a sponsor child there that we have arranged to visit. Anyone know best way to get there and where to stay??

You can get a bus there, its about 3 hours if I remember right, the road is in good condition. I stayed at a place overlooking the river, new clean and with a tv, for maybe $6.

Private Taxi to Kompong Cham is $15 or the cheapest way is a seat in the minibuses for 7000reil and they run all day departing when full. Buses run from around 6am and tickets are around 10000 reil, sorry I can't quite remember it has been a while. The finest hotel is town is Phnom pro Phnom srey with rooms starting from $5 (i think) or $10 for aircon. Also checkout the Lazy Mekong Days bar and rstaurant on the mekong, good english food.
