A group of 9 of us are traveling in Cambodia next month. Staying in Phnom Penh and then we want to fly to Siem Reap.

Is it best for us to book our tickets online at about $49 each ahead of time, or should we wait until we arrive and book in person?

Thank you

If you are certain of the dates you want to travel, I would definitely book in advance. It seems like a very good price. My personal feeling is that there is a small chance it could be cheaper, but a much greater chance that it could cost a lot more (like at least double) and it is also possible that the flight could book out altogether.

This is a no brainer, book now. That's a good price, just hope you can get all nine seats at that price.

You should book it now. Book late the the cheap price might not be available.

If you are traveling in a group of 9 and want to stay together then that certainly means you need to book well ahead but if speed is not your priority then hiring a mini van and sightseeing en route may appeal

But Al, it's a pretty bumpy ride with not much to see on the way. Add in the novelty of suicidal drivers and it becomes an 8 hour endurance test. Maybe it's just something everyone has to doe once before they die, but I will fly every time from now on.

You guys are totally wrong, it's a bad price, I just traveled for 28 dollars with two days notice. Both Bayon airlines and Bassaka Air have flights. Note the jets are smaller so you have to check a bag which would otherwise go in cabin, otherwise it was totally fine.

#5 sure it is bumpy and not a good road I am simply suggesting an alternative option

Thank you. I booked a flight for most of us, my in laws are under the impression that simply showing up at the airport with cash saves a lot of money. They are also convinced that the road is fine if they can't fly (they grew up there and haven't been back in a few years)

Simply turning up at the airport is a huge gamble - sometimes it will work sometimes it will not. I am not an expert on these flights but I imagine they will cost more on the day than pre-booked but I am sure there are others more familiar

By the time they turn up at the airport and then can not fly then they have to get back to town and find seats on a bus/mini van

As for the comments about the road then given the number of posts on the subject I can only suggest they get their heads of the sand (so to speak)
