Hi all,
I am heading to Siem Reap with my wife and mother come January and I have a couple of questions about the place, any help or comments would be much welcomed. :)
1. Do the ATMs dispense USD or Riel?
2. Where can tickets to Angkor Wat be bought?
3. We are keen on visiting Tonle Sap as well, has anyone done this? Recommendations on places to visit on the lake?
Thanks in advance!

- You can get U.S dollar from the ATMs if your card is either Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, Cirrus or Plus.
2. You buy your Angkor Pass at the Admission booths only, before you enter the temples on the road to Angkor Wat.
3. I recommend you visit Kompong Phluk or Kompong Khleang which are villages on the lake but they are further away then Chong Kneas village which is the main floating that tourists visit.

totally agree with sydneyangkor about Kompong Phhluk. It's a magical place. The stilts are several meters high. It's really an impressive site and getting there is half the fun!

Phnom Krom is on the edge of Tonle Sap, there is a floating village below the temple,it may be the one referred to above. It's not too far by bicycle from Siem Reap.
Phnom Krom

There are TWO roads from Siam Reap to Angkor Wat. If you follow the Ph. Sivatha (quite normal if you stay in the town centre), you come to a small booth that sells day-tickets only.
If you want 3-day tickets, you have to return several km on the road further east near the river :-<
Anyway, we found that going by bycicle is the best way to explore the Angkor Wat area.
To Kompong Phhluk the best way is to take a tuktuk.
Be sure also to visit the exhibition on the Tonle Sap near the Angkor Wat ticket office.
