I will be spending NYE in Sihanoukville this year. I'm interested to know if you can buy fireworks and let them off on the beach?
Whose new year
yes you can buy fireworks and yes you "can" let them off on the beach but whether it is allowed or even a good idea is another question

yes as i was there the new yr just past ,an u can buy some big stuff as well but if its good to have all that stuffed dumped into the bay well i think not, an also it is packed

bigal1, does it matter whose new year it is? I'm sure the answer would be the same whether Chinese or Western. I also don't get why you have written can in inverted commas? It's a yes or no questions, are you a politician? Also, I believed this person asked a questions, not for your opinion. I for one am glad to hear you can have fireworks on NYE (western) there however I wish people could just give a simple answer.

If you're going to buy fireworks, go straight to the top-- get the big sky rockets. I've known Australians buy them in Thailand.
although not on the beach in Sihanouk-ville I was one year was happily celebrating the Western new year with fireworks and the local police arrived and very nicely suggested we stop as most people were trying to sleep and that (this) new year was not a local celebration
Fireworks are sold and let off on Occheuteal beach every single night of the year - small hand held "pfft" rockets and also the big ones.
