Hi,

My original plans were to Island hop up from Penang (Malaysia) to Koh Lantra and from there take the necessary route to mainland Thailand, however as its still a bit rainy, I'm now planning on heading from Penang to Kanchanaburi to Bangkok, then into Cambodia (my main reason for visiting is Angkor Wat, but I'd love some more suggestions of what to see in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh) and then do the Khao Sok National Park and the islands on the return leg back to KL......

Would really appreciate any advice on whether this seems do-able and any recommended routes and methods of transport.

Thanks in Advance

p.s. Should say that this is due to happen in the next few days, in Penang at the mo, planning on leaving Sat 3rd

I think you'd save quite a bit of money were you to fly Air Asia[Kuala Lumpur to Siem Reap, visit the temples of Angkor then travel to Thailand/Bangkok to Kachanburi and down the coast by bus/train to Khao Sok [must transfer at Chumphoun or Surathani] then by minivan/bus down to Koh Lanta. Air Asia [Malaysia] offers budget flights to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

But of course you could head to Bangkok from Penang and then fly via Thai Air Asia to Phnom Penh. The above will just save you the hassle of travelling to Thailand twice.
