Hi All,
I will be in Cambodia early Jan.
I have just been told that you can stay at the old casino in Kep.
Does this sound right to anyone because I cant find any info on doing that?
Can you camp there or something?
Any info would be greatly appreciated :D
Thanks
Amy

Hi RoadKing95,
Thanks for the reply
Yes sounds right, do you know where I can arrange this to stay the night? and what the deal is with statring there?
Cheers

They have a building at the top which you can stay in. I can't imagine you being able to book anything until you are actually in Kampot though.

Thanks Adam.... I think ;) Is there anything else you would like to tell me about the road up there?
Have you stayed there before?

There was a casino in Kep, it got ransacked and shut down in 1966, and I don't know where exactly it was or if anything remains of it. As for the casino at Bokor, you can't really stay at it, you could try but it gets very wet inside with all the mist and would be pretty uncomfortable. There is a rangers station nearby that has a big new extension you can stay in, its $5 a night and just ask when you get up there, I doubt they do bookings. Bring some food.

And yes you can stay there at night, but dont just turn up there and stay, you have to arrange to sleep the night.

I did just that, twice. Both times Ive stayed up there there was hardly a soul about, so it shouldnt be any problem, especially with all the new beds.

You can stay and its no problem. Many people arrange through blissful guesthouse in Kampot town.
I've been there on weekends without a reservation and had no problem finding a place, but the high season is coming soon and this may change.
You can also talk to rangers at the entrance of the park at the bottom of the mountain. They are in touch with their fellow rangers on the mountain and can make the arrangements, I guess.
The accommodation is the ranger station located in one of the former residences. They have been extending it and now have a couple of rooms with beds and warm bed sheets (which you need).
The road is pretty rough. This is particularly so after rain when it transforms into a river and it does rain a lot up there.
check my blog for multiple visits to bokor with lots of photos of the road and everything else.
