Hi everyone!

I arrive at Phnom Penh airport at 8am next Thursday and would like to catch a bus the same day to Kampot. From what I've read, there are a few different departure points for lunchtime buses that go to Kampot, so I'm wondering if someone could offer a suggestion or two regarding where the best place to go to buy tickets and catch a Kampot bus might be?

My "worry" is that I'll choose a bus station, get there, and find there's no way to buy tickets, or there's no service that day. Do you think it would be better for me to head straight from the airport to a travel agent or guesthouse that sells tickets?

Any info or recommendations would be appreciated...

Thanks!

Kip

You can be reasonably sure that they'll have tickets avaliable at the bus station adjacent to the Central Market. Because you're cutting it fairly close, I would drop by there as soon as you get into town.

so youb are on air delaysia, which means arr around 9.00 add 1 hr for immigration etc and the 15 min motodop ride into town, along same road as bus will take out of PnPn.
2.youre misled; tipically, like about anywhere in this world; the BUS companies sell the tix. guesthss etc send someone out to that window to buy 1 for the fools that want them
add their fee. thus they dont have any 'hidden stax' . and in the unlikely case the buse/es (the stands are quite close together around the market) are all full, there will be such enomrous demand to reach kampot, youre very likely to find a spot directly in a share-taxi

Thanks for your replies, guys. I realise guesthouses add on their fee, but I'm not as fussed about that as I was when I was younger (and poorer :) ). Sounds like the best bet is to head straight to the market area and see what I can find! Thanks for mentioning the taxis, as that was going to be my next question...

Sorya, the largest bus company, has a bus from PP to Kampot around 1 pm. Its a rather long journey as it takes a detour via Kep.
