Hi

A friend and I plan to stay in Siem Reap for 5 nights and P/P for 5 nights.

It seems though is much cheaper to book accommodation there, rather than online beforehand.

We will be travelling in September.

The only thing is we would be worried we couldnt find anywhere when we arrived. I think September 'should' be a quiet time.

Any advice???

Thanks!

September is the quietest month of the year so you will find somewhere to stay pretty easily.

The advantages of booking in advance though are that you may get free pick up from the airport or bus station especially in Siem Reap.

Especially if you arrive at the bus station in SR!

In Siem Reap, I would suggest booking 1 or 2 nights in advance , so that you get the transfer from the bus station or airport. Alternatively, you can you get a moto into the town centre, and you will find accomodation no problem.

In Phnom Penh, you can nornally just head for the backpacker area around the Lake, and you will have plenty of choice.

Backpacker area around the Lake? Well, hmmm, yeah if that is your cup of tea. But September is still in the middle of the rainy season, and the lake area will be rather muddy. Lots of other options elsewhere in Phnom Penh.
2Johnstone: you will have no difficulty finding accommodation in Siem Reap in September.

i cant recommend the Golden Banana enough. It's got an incredible pool which is exactly what you're after in the heat of Siem Reap which is not close to any beaches. Although, it's more expensive than a lot fo places, breakfast is included and the pool is fantastic. The staff are lovely and teh lay out of teh place is beautiful. I was supposed to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 8! I paid $18 a night for just myself. Another hotel which has a pool is the Golden Temple which i hear is also very good for half the price, $9.

#6 Golden Temple has a pool table not a swimming pool.
