Hi
I heard, that starting from April 2014 it is only possible to withdraw money from ATM by credit card and no longer with Maestro cards.
Do you know if this is correct?
I am going to Cambodia in a couple of months and I am wondering what kind of cards I need to bring.

Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't know what Maestro is, but really any card on the Visa or Mastercard network are widely accepted, so thats what you need to have. I had used a Visa card in 2012 and a Mastercard in 2013 and 2014, throughout Cambodia without any problems.

Using a credit card in an ATM is a bad idea and you should use a debit card.

Like Dale I am not familliar with Maestro and it may be possible that the banks are withdrawing from it but I very much doubt this means they would only accept credit cards and not debit cards

I put a credit onto my Visa before I leave. My card has a cash advance fee but if drawing on a credit balance there is no interest charge.

Thanks for you reply so far. With Maestro card I mean a debit card.
This card is apparently no longer accepted. Can anybody confirm this?

Thanks for your help.

July 2014 we were still able to get cash from the ATM with maestro MasterCard ..
Btw lot of differences in the high fee you pay, Canadian Bank is free of charge.

Hi, I have the same and will be following. Is Maestro only Australian ? I have a commonwealth one, but try not to use overseas as they charge to much.

Have you thought searching one of the Cambodian Banks web pages or emailing them or even contacting Maestro?

No, Maestro is widely used in Europe too.

I would see if I can get a Visa card from my bank, mine gives them out for free, that way you don't have to worry.

I was hoping the Commonwealth Travel Money Card would work in Cambodia. The one you load with money before you leave home. Does anyone know if this card works well in Cambodian ATMS?
