I have 2 weeks of holidays in mid January 2015. I have a maximum of 16days/15 nights (Sat- sun) but I probably would only stay for 14 nights, MAX.
I want to see the temples and see some of the rural bits of Cambodia.
I have done some initial googling and here is my draft plan. Please input anything you might find worth recommending.
Siem reap
Day 1 Fly in arriving around afternoon. Settle down, find a tuktuk/ rent a bicycle. (sunset angor wat?)
day 2 . angor
3. Maybe a day trip to the north. Beng melea (the temple with overgrown trees) koh ker is also along the way but would that worth while? too much temple-seeing maybe?
4. angor
5. I am thinking about kampong phluk floating village @ tonal sap. someone told me locals there try to get $ from you at every turn but I can;t resist a lake/river!
phnom penh
1. travel day. settle down. wander around city
2. Sightseeing. Palace, killing field
3. Day trip to a village?
Kep
1. Travel day. Spend time around the town/coast line
2. beach/hiking
3. Rabbit island. Is it worth staying overnight? I heard about fluorescence algae making the sea glow or something.
4 back to pp. One more day there
5. morning flight home.
The time allocation seems a bit wonky to me. I dont know if I should spend less time in each of the places or not. Any suggestions would be welcome. Past experience tells me that I tend to allocate a bit too much time for each location though I am okay with just chilling out and walking along the streets.
What about places like b'bang? Should I put it between SR and PP by taking some time out of either city, or kep?
Thank you.
