Arriving from Laos, I've got around 3 weeks in Cambodia next month. Yes, I know this isn't a long time, and yes, I wish I had more, but I take what I can get with time off before going back to my studies! Our interests are getting a mixture of fantastic landscapes, culture (e.g. temples) while still having a few opportunities for nightlife and spending time at the beach.
Arrive overland from Laos
Siem Reap
Tonle Sap Lake (Floating Villages)
Angkor Archaeological Parks
Banteay Chhmar
Battambang
Sihanouksville
Koh Rung Sanloe
Phnom Penh
Then head into Vietnam, arriving in Ho Chi Min.
Is there anywhere else which could be replaced with somewhere better? If this is too many destinations (I covered a similar pace in India, Thailand and Malaysia so I think it should be okay).
In addition, I am tempted to replace Banteay Chhmar with somewhere else, as it's too far north and somewhat out of the way. Is this a good idea, and if so, what should go in its place?
Any advice or opinions would be really appreciated. Thanks!
