I've spent time in Indonesia and Thailand where it was possible to hire a car and driver for the day quite cheaply. Is this possible to do in Penang and Langkawi. If so, about how much will it cost?

Do you need an international drivers licence when hiring a car in Penang & Langkawi, or will your licence from home suffice. Do they even ask for your licence?

Hi,

We want to stay a lot of time in Indonesia so we planned this way of getting visas

We are going to take our first Indonesian Visa in Bangkok, normally it will be valid for 60 days.
Then get out of Indonesia at Singapore and ask for another 60 days Indonesian Visa.
At last going out another time on the Malaysian side and ask there at the border for a 30 days visa.

Does anyone see any problems with this way of doing. I mean is it possible to go out and in as many times as we want ?
Do they not ask…

I'm in the procoess of booking several domestic tickets over the next couple months, and I'm appalled to find out that the fuel surcharges are kiking up the price of tickets by about 50%. For instance, the normal fare for a R/T ticket to Boracay from Manila is about 5400 pesos. But there are now 2700 pesos in taxes and fees, most of which is the fuel surcharge (the rest is VAT). Even my infant daughter has to pay 1900 pesos in fuel charges on her 578 peso ticket!!

I went through a similar period…

Anybody knows cheap guesthouses around Clark Airport? I will land off at Clark Airport which is 80km from Manila the city at 16:30pm. But my next plane to Cebu is on the next day, 12:30pm.

Thinking about the tight schedule, I prefer staying close to Clark Airport instead of taking another 3 hours to downtown. I've experienced the traffic of Manila...disaster. :(

Thanks!

Hi
I Will be going to the Philippines for 5 weeks. Instead of packing lots of stuff, I want to buy several things when I arrive.

Could anyone recommend where I could buy the following items:

1. Mosquito net. preferable the kind that is treated with mosquito repellent.

2. A good camera shop that will have professional level stuff. I would like to buy a Pelican brand Dry case, strong but inexpensive tripod and other needed photo supplies.

3. A voltage converter /adapter.

4. Cheap clothing.

Any idea if the Playstation 3 has been released in Singapore yet? If so, what is the cost and how does this compare to what it will be when it eventually gets released in the UK? Also any compatability issues with tv sets and playing games bought in the UK on a Singapore machine?

thanks
