Hi guys,
Really appreciate some advise on what is a much discussed subject.
Heading to West Papua at the start of next month on a trip that will continue by land into Papua New Guinea and then flying onward to the Sololman Islands before returning to the UK. All dates are flexible.
Have not yet locked in the initial flight but concerned the carrier choice might potentially cause an issue over the land crossing / token onward ticket.
Intend to get visa on arrival if that does not give us a potential problem with the overland exit to PNG and present a cheap Air Asia ticket routed out of Jakarta to Singapore as proof of onward travel when first arrive.
My initial question is will the Jakarta/Singapore token exit ticket be acceptable if I effectively route direct with Garuda via Jakarta to Jayapura Papua and request a visa on arrival there. Alternatively I could opt for another carrier from the Uk that means I would request my VOA when arriving in Jakarta before travelling onward with Lion Air but it does mean a much longer stop over.
Re the land crossing to PNG any current advise would be much appreciated. I realise I will need to get an exit stamp in town before heading to the border and again get a visa with proof of onward travel from PNG for my time there.
Have a totally blank sheet of paper for this trip so all options are open before returning to the UK at the end of November so again any advise or views on must do's and things to avoid would be much appreciated.
Turning everything on its head and missing Papua altogether by heading direct to PNG before moving onwards to the Solomans could be an option. Again really appreciate a view from anyone who has travelled through both.
Many thanks in advance guys.
Happy travels.
