Taman Negara

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Malaysia

Hi there

I'm planning a trip to Taman Negara in January, and I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is it possible to hire a guide "on site" without pre-booking? And how much would that cost?

  2. Can we sleep in the 5RM hides? And do we have to book in advance? Or can we just decide when we are in the jungle, for how long we want to stay etc..

  3. Anything else i need to know?

Thanks a lot!

January will be low season as it's monsoon, so it shouldn't be busy in the park. You can book things when you arrive.
And you don't really need a guide, a lot of the trails are well marked.

Yup, TN should be quiet in Jan. Be prepared to get wet.
And agree that you can get around without a guide.

I've booked with Han Travel, but their website has links to a direct bus from KL and maps of the park!

I am taking industrial strength insect repellent!

That's not very environmentally friendly :-(
