South to north MalaysiaCountry forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Malaysia
Planning our next trip really gets me, great on cold and wet evenings. My question this time is about travelling from south to north in Malaysia.
The highlight between the CH and Langkawi is Pinang. Then, there are a few more places in the area which you might visit but not of the same calibre as Pinang which can keep you busy for 2-3 days. You are looking for some kind of homestay place ("ecological/social programs"). There are homestays in Malaysia but I haven't heard yet of one between the CH and Langkawi. Maybe somebody else in this forum knows. Regarding the special wildlife or nature experience with kids, you could pay a visit to the Royal Belum state park, located between Pinang and Kota Bharu: It's not specific for kids, but at least you can bring the kids there. The other interesting wildlife place in teh area is the Ulu Muda reserve, but they only take kids older than 12 years. Couchsurfing may be possible, but I've never tried it. | 1
