Snorkling in Sabah ..again..sorry!

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Malaysia

Hi again,

Non diver, keen snorkler....................Dragon Inn at Sempora and day trips to the islands for snorkeling? How does that sound to the wise thorntree crew?

bitingbums - thanks for your info. What do you think of my above suggestion?

Muddy

Hi Muddy

Semporna is probably one of the ickiest towns in Sabah. It's got a rough edge, there's really nothing to do or see, and it's not the greatest idea to go for a wander around town. Dragon Inn has unfriendly staff and an overpriced crappy restaurant. I can't recommend it.
Have you thought about contacting Uncle Chang?

I shall do just that.........................thanks!

Uncle Chang is great & they run a simple & basic resort at Mabul Island for RM50 per person include all meals. It's for everyone, not just youngster. Stay at Semporna Dragon Inn does not include meals, except for toast & coffee breakfast, & nothing to see or to do at Semporna. Electricity run off very frequent & you got to sleep without air-con while paying the air-con rate at dragon inn, & some guesthouse too. Dragon Inn restaurant, selling over-priced seafood & it's not very delicious at all. Nothing much to say about foods at Semporna, but a lot to compliment about foods at Uncle Chang budget resort.

or Arung Hyatt on Mabul, more quiet, works with Scuba Junkie and Reef divers. Semporna is not worth spending the time. do visit Sipadan -very wothwile even for snorkelling, and snorkel Mabul
