I will be arriving in Singapore in the next few days and was wondering whether Singapore is a good place for picking up laptop computers and other things? Are they significantly cheaper than in England? Have been in Hong Kong and regret not buying more things whilst I had the chance. Is Singapore similar to Hong Kong for buying electronics?

For laptops/notebook I would avoid the obvious choice Sim Lim Square/Towers, as there are too many crooks around.
Go to Funan IT Mall instead (every Cab driver knows how to get there).
Here the businesses seem more transparent and not so pushy. Mainly the vendors are more specialiced and seem to have better detail knowledge, on what they are selling. Sim Lim has more plain box movers.
On top of that in Funan IT Mall is almost every day a fair in the main hall with special promotions for Laptop's/Notebooks.
For best price/value I personally would go for an Acer model currently, but I'm sure you have your preferences. ;-)
I would prefer Singapore over Hong Kong for buying electronics, as there isn't a language barrier.
International/Global Warranty should be available everywhere these days.
