Hi, we will be arriving in Singapore by the end of June. We 've been to Singapore before so we are interested in seeing more around Singapore. We are planning about 1 week for this. Any suggestions? After that we will be heading for Kalimantan. (Balikpapan, Banjarmasin, Palangkaraya). Any suggestions how to get there? From Batam?

There are lots of new attractions in Singapore that just opened in the past year such as Universal Studios, Marina Bay Sands, Resort World... etc Do check out my recent Singapore trip here: http://travelsatay.com/category/singapore/ For instance, when you visit in June, do check if the Oceanarium is finally open. It is supposed to be the world's biggest aquarium of something like that. Lots of lots of new tourists stuff in sg! | 4
Thanks a lot. I will definitely use the list you gave me. I'm travelling with my 82 years old father (old backpacker, ha, ha) and we are not so much into the "new" things but interested in the old way of life. I know, everywhere in the world modern times are coming up... How is Batam or one of the other small islands? And what about a trip to Melaka? | 5
places worth a walk in singapore ( a little down memory lane ) joo chiat influences from the past one way to find singapore's uniqueness is to follow your tummy , by looking for places with good food , theres gotta be some bit of histoy in it . and also good food means , long history and definatelly a great way to start exploring singapore's culture. hope you enjoy your visit here :) | 6
Getting to Borneo from Singapore...will need some planning... These are not areas that have a lot of tourist traffic... Not all airlines service these markets...do your research well in advance...and remember that daily flights may not be available from where you want to go in Kalimantan...which is in Indonesia...and of course you need to by a visa for Indonesia...You may need to look into smaller local carriers... Perhaps Malay Borneo would be easier to fly to from Johor Malaysia...with a Malaysian air carrier.....? As to Singapore...lots to do...they love to shop and eat here... the Main museums to visit or the Asian Civilizations Museum and the Singapore History Museum... The Metro can literally take you all over the island...from end to end...not just the city of Singapore itself...so there may be somethings to see in the hinterland...? | 7
