I'm looking at the option of going to Philippines in August for 3 weeks. I'm aware that is typhoon season but it seems there are less rains and typphons in the Southern islands. Could anybody who has been in Philippines in July- August share his experience? Also,I'd like to know if the colour of water still looks as nice as I can see in the pics or it's brown or dark because of the rain even if it doesn't rain that day. Any tips?
Thank you!

When I was there, there was a typhoon in April...
Just to share the general experience, you get a few days of advance warning if you follow the news. As it approaches, transport gets disrupted. I was on an island (Catanduanes) that was in the typhoon's predicted path, and it was difficult to get out. Ferries stopped running and I was lucky to get on one of the last flights.
Best strategy probably would be to focus on the south-western islands, and leave plenty of safety buffer at the end in case transport gets disrupted. For example, spend the first two weeks on Palawan, then go to Manila and spend the remaining time visiting the western side of Luzon.
This is a random blog from some guys who went to Palawan in August. You can see in their pictures how they get little sunshine and lots of overcast days: http://jorelliveshigh.blogspot.com/2012/08/august-lagen-el-nido-palawan_21.html

Thanks a million Klaush for the info! Most of the people who have traveled in August still recommend to go. I guess as far as we keep updated with the news it should be fine. Although it may rain everyday....
Thanks again!!! :)
