Komodo Dragons

Howdy folks

Where and how do I go to see the komodo dragons from Bali. Also how is the weather going to be like in June/July.Replies much apprecated. Thanks

We flew to Labuhanbajo from Bali and then took a boat to Komodo Island and also Rinca Island. We actually saw more komodo's on Rinca.

We arranged the tour with a local travel agent in Bali but I think you can arrange it yourself much cheaper. Here is an article on getting to Komodo: http://www.gonomad.com/features/0612/komodo.html<BR><BR>Caroline

If you pick up a guide book for Indonesia, for example Lonely Planet's, you will be able to find the answers to both your questions. But a good way to get to Komodo is the Perama tour, and the weather should be fine in June/July.
Hope you will have a great trip

Hello! Why people never read the previous posts? Last week I wrote about flights to Flores island 5 or 6 times. {{{
You can easily reach the Komodo island without any travel agency - firstly buy an avia ticket to Labuan Bajo, secondly charter a boat to the Komodo island or to the Rinca island or buy a tour in Labuan Bajo.
The simple way to buy a ticket to Flores is shopping around Denpasar airport - all companies have offices in Denpasar airport and open at 8 am. Usually they have seats before departure. But they cancel flights quite often because there's not enough passengers so sometimes you have to wait one day. Just be prepared to do it, don't panic. The domestic airlines are awful, the delays and cancellations are normal thing.
Transnusa has morning flights daily from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo at 10:30 and 13:00, the fare is 651000-761000 rp.
http://www.transnusa.co.id/module.php<BR>Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) has only one flight Denpasar-Labuan Bajo at 10:15 the fare is 650000 rp.
In Labuan Bajo there's only one main road near harbour and it's full of tour agencies selling Komodo tours. If you are smart enough you can go straight to the harbour and charter a boat for 250000 rp. It includes one day trip for 5-6 people to the Komodo or Rinca and snorkelling on the way back near one of inhabited islands. The entrance to the National Park costs 200000 rp. for one person. Sometimes you can find western tourists to share the chartered boat just in the Gardena hotel restaurant near the Labuan Bajo port.

Remember too that if flights FROM Bali are cancelled, then flights BACK FROM LABUANBAJO will be cancelled too, SO DON'T PLAN ON FLYING BACK TO BALI ONLY 1 DAY BEFORE YOU ARE SCHEDULED TO FLY TO YOUR HOME COUNTRY (or to some other destination).

"If you pick up a guide book for Indonesia, for example Lonely Planet's, you will be able to find the answers to both your questions."

Or why not treat this website as another medium to get the knowledge and questions we desire such as we would get from using a book?.....................they search for the questions by using a computer rather than a book, what harm is that? they searched; they found........... thats not being lazy! accept the internet; thats what i say :~)
Dont be shocked that internet is used in Indo too, even if the connection sucks ;) so why carry a book? the information is always a search away.

hey Anonymous,

We went to Bali last month and I did the komodo package tour for 3D/2N.
Me and my family (4 adults) were really enjoy the trip.
They offered about US$400/Pax with all included: return flight ticket, accommodation, guide.

We looked up on internet and we booked with www.komodotourstravel.com
they work professional and offer a good price if we compare with another companies that we read on internet.

Cheers,

Marian
