Island to visit in the Philippines?

Country forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Philippines

Hi there,

I will be travelling with a friend to the Philippines in December, we are flying in to Manila and planning to visit Borocay and one more island, although we are unsure of which one just yet.

I was hoping someone may be able to give us some insight into other islands that are lively, but not as touristy as Borocay. We are very interested in diving and other water sports, but were also hoping to just relax for a couple of days. Can anyone suggest anything that they've heard of or experienced?

Any suggestions and information is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

John

I suggest you go to Siargao, where you could dive and go around other islands. It is known for its surfing activities, but there is more to it than just surfing. Personally, it reminds me of Boracay, 15 years ago. you may get in touch with the province's tourism officer - romeo edilor - +6320918 2115253.

from boracay, you can also visit romblon just north of the island,a small island with plenty of white and private beaches, divings are also great here and no tourists at all.

2

Palawan - or i think it's called that. Saw pics and it's looks nice.

If you are looking for an alternative to Boracay, then Panglao Island is it! The beaches, the sand and the fun and sun are as good as Boracay; but it is half as crowded and half the price. More and more people know about Boracay because it is heavily more publicized however Panglao Island is slowly getting there, travellers far and wide are putting the word out that Panglao is a exotic Island paradise. I'll second Romblon, if you want somewhere close to Boracay. There's great diving too.
