Indonesia Itinirary beginning of RamadanCountry forums / South-East Asia Islands & Peninsula / Indonesia
Hi, i am planning a trip to Indoesia at the end of April an begining of May. I thought about the period from 18 April until 12 May. The Problem is that in the last week there starts Ramadan. It will be my first time in Indonesia. I am locking for Nature Landscape and i also want to snorkel. I dont Need Party and i heard that Bali is now overcrowded with Tourist. Would you recommend to travel at this time? Are there Areas where Ramadan does not effect the journy very much? Thank you
Getting food in the daytime is the only problem you might have in Ramadan (transport might be a problem at the end of the month, but that won't affect you, if you are only there in the first week). Bunaken Island is good for snorkelling (but has currents) and is mainly Christian. North East Sulawesi has hiking/nature and a large Bugis and Christian populations, so you might want to head there. If you go to beach resorts that mainly cater to Western tourists, then you can get food in the daytime as well. | 1
Flores and Bali are good places for Ramadan as they are predominately Hindu and Christian respectively. | 2
