| def3310:13 UTC17 Jun 2007 | On my way from KL to Kota Baru, I'm stopping at the Camroon highlands for one night. If I leave KL really early in the morning by bus to the highlands, and stay one night, and leave the next morning to go to Kota Baru.... does that leave me enough time to really see anything? I don't know how long it takes to get there from KL. Will I lose most of my day from travel? Or should I just skip the Camaroon Highlands and spend two full days in Kota Baru?
Any suggestions.

| ang4011:20 UTC17 Jun 2007 | It depends on what you want to see or do while there! Our main reason was to visit the tea plantations. WE stayed two nights and found it enough for what we wwanted to see at the time.

Panoramic views from the top of Gunung Brichang, the higest road in Peninsular Malaysia at 2000 metres. Turn left at the guard house on the Sungai Palas Estate road, then left again and drive carefully as the road is narrow and quite steep.
Walk Path 9 / 9A Tanah Rata
Start from the gardens on Persiaran Dayang Endah and continue to the end of the road. Cross a small bridge on your left to start the walk.

The bus from KL to Tanah Rata takes about 4 1/2 hours, first one leaves at 8.30am. Tanah Rata is very small so your timetable is fine if that's all you want to see (especially if you don't have your own transport) and you will get to see alot of the scenery from the bus, but I would recommend 2 nights if you can.
The 1/2day or full day tours are worth doing. You need to book the day before and this can be done from the tourist kiosk in the town. On the full day we went to:
Tea Plantation
Highest point in the Highlands
Jungle Trek
Strawberry Farm
Butterfly Farm
Orang Asli Village
Waterfall
There are also some good walks in the area.
